Excited to be at Alamo Drafthouse for A Christmas Story feast — Chinese food and fuuuuudge. This is the first time my parents have been in town when a feast’s going on, and they love this movie, so now they’ll get to see why the Alamo is so awesome. (We aren’t big drinkers, or drinkers at all in my Mom’s case, so “they bring you beer while you watch a movie” isn’t a selling point as it is for most folks.

I’ve resolved to catch up on blogging this year’s knitting, if not by the actual end of this year, then in January. In the meantime, have a picture of the menu.

I really meant to post Monday about how awesome the classes with Anne Hanson were on Sunday. My mother-in-law visited on Tuesday, though, so Monday was Clean All The Things day. Then yesterday morning, I was settling down at the computer, eating a bagel for breakfast, and broke a tooth. So my day became rather over-involved with dentistry issues, and now most of the week is already gone and I get to look forward to having a titanium screw put in my jaw sometime in the next six months. (And, wouldn’t you know, I’m getting ‘bonk’ed when I try uploading pics for this post to flickr… I wonder if they’re on Amazon’s server cloud, which is also borked today?)

I’ve had to set aside the Watson socks while I work on some deadline knitting for a wedding at the end of this month, but I’ve taken the weekend off to go on a yarn crawl… eleven stores in four days and about 550 miles, whee!

So until I get time to post yarn crawl pics or finish the Watson sock pattern or do any other general updatey stuff, have a picture of the four sausage plate at The Dodging Duck in Boerne, TX.

I thought about imitating the Yarn Harlot and joining the autograph line to ask Ron Glass to take a picture holding my sock, but my actual feet were already offering to cramp up, so I’m just going to sit here and knit until the Dr. Horrible pre-show starts.

Field Trip

First, a bit of OMGWTFBBQ! I guess other Sherlock fans (possibly, ALL of them) found my Watson sweater post this week… 75 views on Friday alone. Wow, I feel popular. If any of y’all stuck around, I’m thinking of doing a “design a scarf for Holmes” series in a week or two… or possibly “design a shock blanket for myself” depending on how tonight’s episode goes.

So, on to what I meant to be writing about… two weeks ago my Friday morning knitting group decided that we’d make a field trip to a yarn store an hour outside of town, and scheduled it for this past Friday. Late on Thursday an email came from the store announcing a 15% off everything sale. Yay, timing! So we headed out to Yarnorama in Paige, TX.

Lots of pics and description of the day behind the cut, but I just had to put this guy out where everyone will see his ridiculously adorable face. This is Coco, one of the shop’s two angora rabbits:

Picspam!

I’ll never get “caught up” on this blog. The only way to keep it from dying entirely, I’ve decided, is to go on with what I’m doing now and possibly fit in some of the missing stuff as I get the time and inclination. (The Venn diagram of the union of sets “time” and “inclination” is nonexistent, from what I can tell.)

So, moving forward, I was amused to see Sheri at the Loopy Ewe post about knitting with pets in your lap. I almost always have my iPhone within reach, and frequently have a cat on my lap when I knit. I add a cat-modeled picture to as many projects as I can. So to make up for being terribly negligent about posting, I thought you might like a picspam of pretty cats and knitting.

muriel and string theory

This skein of String Theory Caper Sock was twisted inside, so I had to wind it into a ball by hand. Muriel was not amused. The rest are under the cut:
